The most southern area of Portugal, this is, the whole south area, it is known like The Algarve and increasingly it is a destination chosen by all those who want to enjoy a few calm holidays in some of its paradisiac beaches.

The region of the Algarve has turned into last years in one of the most visited destinations of Portugal thank you, largely, to the reputation that there have gained its beaches and cities of the coast, as for example, the capital of the region, Faro, and adjacent localities.
The Algarve borders to the north on the Alentejo region, to the south-west the waters of the Atlantic Ocean bathe its coasts, and to the east the Guadiana and the borders of Spain delimit its extension. The main cities of the Algarve are Faro, its capital, Albufeira, Portimao, Lagoa, Lagos, Vilamoura, Silves and Tavira. There are cities mostly placed in the south coast of the country and that they are visited principally by tourists of all the countries due to the delight of the calmness of its paradisiac beaches, in addition to its gastronomy and patrimony.
The beaches of the Algarve are an ideal stage for the practice of many sports outdoors. The surfing or the Kitesurf are some of the examples of activities that you will be able to enjoy in the waters of the Atlantic Ocean. Of the same way you can choose for calmer sports, like the golf, in many fields which the region has.
In the province of Faro you can visit Vilamoura emphasized by its fantastic marina. Very close the Falésia beach is placed, in Loulé, one of most journeyed along the tourists who approach to this region. Also the Rocha beach is known, in Portimao, locality where also you will be able to go for a swim in the waters of the beach of Alvor, world modality for the sports practice like the surfing or the windsurfing.
But the number of beaches in The Algarve is much more extensive. We must bear in mind that we speak about an area that has more than 240 kilometers of coast replete with long beaches of golden sand. Also, we should emphasize that not all the beaches of the region are equal. TO THE area West of Faro is known by its rocky coasts covered by hundreds of caves and bays with the only delight. The Atlantic coast is a less journeyed area and, therefore, less masificada, for those pleasant of a calmer tourism. An example representative of this area would be the city of Odeceixe. Likewise, the area East of Faro is full of large number of islands that lodge calmer villages and that preserve its most traditional aspect. Of this area we recommend to you Fuzeta or Tavira, both with excellent beaches.
But in the Algarve not only there are beaches. The gastronomy of the area also is of standing out, with the fish and the shellfish as plates it covers with stars, or if we go away more to the interior, with the traditional mountain kitchen of the Algarve. Also, a coastal region, the diversion in bars, discotheques or casinos is assured to the being up to the dawn.
The Algarve therefore is a suitable destination for those those that like the calmness of the beach, with the advantage to have also the possibility of knowing the interior, more mountainous part, in addition to enjoying the best gastronomy and night life. It would be a sorrow that you were getting lost it!
